What is 925 Silver?

Posted on

925 Silver is also known as Sterling Silver. Sterling Silver is an alloy of silver composed of 92.5% silver and 7.5% of other metals, usually copper, nickel or zinc.

To identify as such, the number 925 is generally stamped upon the silver, often on the inner band or clasp of the necklace, bracelet, earrings, or ring.

Sterling Silver is the standard for beautiful high-quality silver jewellery.

Sterling silver is more durable than fine silver and is specified better for jewellery or flatware in comparison to fine silver which is comparatively quite "soft".
